Walmart: New Coupon Policy!!!

by One Frugal Chick on 03/05/2011

Walmart has released a NEW official coupon policy online.

Here are some highlights:

Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.
YAY!! This means we can have overage!! So if we buy an item for $2, and have a $3 coupon for that item, we can either get a $1 back, or have it applied to something else we are purchasing!

Walmart accepts Checkout coupons (also called “Catalinas”) that are printed at our competitors’ registers, have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code.
Double YAY! This means we can use catalina’s we get at the grocdery stores or Register Rewards from Walgreens :)

I printed out some coupons I clipped from coupons.com and our walmart will not take them. They said the barcodes don’t scan at the register so they cannot accept them. Huge disappointment.

Frugal chick, you are a genius for finding all of these things! I just have to dis Walmart, and DO NOT take this as directed at your brilliance.

Walmart:

*kills the small business (and even other big box stores);
* discriminates against women (they are facing the biggest gender discrimination lawsuit in US history);
http://consumerist.com/2010/12/supreme-court-to-hear-walmart-gender-discrimination-suit.html
* generally has disgusting stores with untrained people;
* and…takes out life insurance policies on the elderly greeters it hires. http://consumerist.com/2007/07/walmart-took-secret-life-insurance-policies-out-on-employees-collected-after-their-death.html

Stores aren’t perfect, but Walmart is over-the-top repulsive.

So, if we have coupons from say, target, we can use it at walmart?
