Here is a picture of some of the finished cake pops. We had so much fun making them and found them to be extremely easy and quick to make.
I received this message from reader, Cherry, this afternoon:
“Hi! First of all, thanks for posting about the cake pop maker deal. I
was able to get 2…thanks again. I tried using it last Sunday for my
son’s Christening reception but wasn’t successful at all. When I saw
your picture, I was so amazed that it looked so perfect. May I ask you
how you made your cake pops? Did you follow the recipe in the package
or you used any cake mix? How much mix did you pour in the maker?
Please give me advices on how to make that wonderful cake pops. Thanks
so much…Happy Holidays!”
Tips on making cake pops:
We used store bought boxed cake mix. Both recipes called for 1 & 1/3 cups of water, but I read in reviews that people said to cut the amount of water added so we used 3/4 cup of water so that our batter was thick.
We used a little more oil than the boxed recipe stated so that they would remove easily from the cake pop maker once they were baked.
We put the batter into a zip lock bag and cut one of the corners so we could easily dispense the batter into each cake pop mold.
We filled each mold about 3/4 full.
We only baked each set for 4 minutes.
I recommend buying the chocolate candy melts they sell at the craft stores to cover your cake pops. We used candy melts in white and red, but used regular milk chocolate too. The regular chocolate was runny and a bit harder to work with, whereas the white and red melts covered the pops without running down the sticks.
We covered our pops in crushed oreos, sprinkles, and coconut
YUM The crushed oreos with the white chocolate coating was EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD!
